Join   on Thursday, June 12, at 7pm, in conversation around the future of urban transportation with the minds behind CicLAvia, LADOT, and Metro. We’ll take some forward motion on understanding how walking, biking and public transit in LA can be both practical and sexy. Hang back after for local brews and dancing.

Aaron is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of CicLAvia. A lifelong proponent of alternative travel inside cities, he has been producing, consulting and creating events in public spaces for the past 27 years. Inspired by the 40-year run of weekly ciclovía events in Bogotá, Colombia, CicLAvia creating a web of temporary public space, free of car traffic for Angelenos to explore different parts of city at a human pace.

Margot is the City of Los Angeles' first-ever Pedestrian Coordinator. Based in the LA Department of Transportation, she works closely with partner agencies on creating traffic-calming corridor projects, placemaking programs (think plazas, parklet and bike corrals) and pedestrian safety education programs. She wants a future for LA that includes walking as viable, safe and an awesome option.

Michael is the Creative Director at Metro, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He leads Metro’s 30-person Creative Services group to rethink public transit communication for the nation’s third-largest transit agency. In addition to creating wayfinding and environmental graphics, timetables, maps, etc.. he and his team are asking bigger questions about how to shift LA’s car commuting culture to embrace public transit as a more sustainable, convenient and faster option.

Use any method of transportation to get here… bonus points for anyone who combines walking, biking and the metro! We’ll even have a bike valet for fashionable and convenient bike parking. No bike to have valeted? Bid on the Tern folding bike for the silent auction, bringing you one step closer to happier commuting future!

Our favorite way of incorporating all 3: walk your bike to the closest metro stop, take it to Union Station and make your way to the exit onto Vignes St., enjoy the bike ride down Santa Fe and snap some photos of your adventure and share with us  @A_Hundred_Years #10x10
